PLAY BALL!!!

The newly minted Miami Marlins play host to the St. Louis Cardinals in the first "North American" game of the 2012 MLB season.  As I'm writing this, Josh Johnson is getting knocked around while Kyle Lohse is cruising through the Marlins lineup.

Lots of injuries since I last wrote this blog.  Closers are becoming a dying breed with the season ending injuries to Jokim Soria, Ryan Madson, Drew Storen and now Andrew Bailey.   The White Sox , Red Sox and Royals closer situations haven't been fully answered, but Sean Marshall is the man in Cincinnati making him a pretty valuable player these days.   Andy Pettitte is now un-retired and should be back in the Yankees rotation by May...and Michael Pineda may have caught the sophomore jinx going down with a shoulder injury.  Notable injured and on the DL are:  Carl Crawford, Brendon Inge, Joba Chamberlin, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Michael Morse.

Right now Kyle Lohse is throwing a no-hitter through six innings of work, with the Emilio Bonafacio reaching base on a hit by pitch.   Go figure that a fairly undrafted player goes out and does something like this on opening night.   Play Ball!!
